In 1940, Iqbal Park witnessed a declaration that would change the world map, but it was more than just a statement. 85 years ago today, the Lahore Resolution officially introduced the long awaited concept of a separate Muslim state. That day we stood for something profoundly dear to us, our freedom. Our dream was set in motion by the courage of men and women that dared to envision the foundation of Pakistan.
On this day we celebrate our history and honour our legends like Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Iqbal and Liaquat Ali Khan. Yet, there were many whose names history did not record.
A Tribute to Unsung Heroes
The creation of Pakistan was not solely the effort of a few key figures. It was a collective struggle, powered by the countless sacrifices of nameless souls that devoted their lives to a cause they deemed greater than themselves.
The mothers who sent their sons to the frontlines of the struggle, the youth who marched in protests for freedom, the masses who sacrificed their lives and families who left behind everything they owned for a better tomorrow, for us to have an identification, for us to be proud Pakistanis. These are the unsung heroes of Pakistan’s story.
Celebrating Pakistan
Like any nation, Pakistan’s fate has met with its share of challenges, whether be political instability, economic setbacks and social divides, but we have shown remarkable resilience. This day remains a significant symbol of patriotism and a proud embrace of our identity.
Let us honor the sacrifices of our heroes not just by words, but with meaningful actions. Let us become the change our country needs. The fabric of our nation can only be strengthened with self accountability, sincerity in our work, a commitment to education, and a compassion for the underprivileged.
Our shared goal must be the welfare and progress of our society. Whether it’s through volunteering your time, raising awareness, or contributing to causes that uplift fellow Pakistanis. Every effort counts, no matter how small it may seem. Each step actually brings us closer to the dream that was envisioned on 23rd March, 1940.
Let us not forget that the future of Pakistan depends on the actions we take today.
From extreme left are Sher-e-Bengal A.K. Fazlul Huq and Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. On Liaquat’s left are Sir Sikandar Hayat Khan, Sardar Aurangzeb Khan, and Amir Ahmed Khan, the famed Raja Sahib Mehmoodabad (extreme right). |
Heroes of the Pakistan Movement, the builder of the nation in its nascent years. The Pakistan of 2025 — on the 85th anniversary of its Resolution — is in many ways these national heroes.
