According to the 2020 edition of the environmental performance index (EPI) ranking (released by Yale Center for Environmental Law & Policy ) Pakistan ranks 142 with an EPI score of 33.1, an increase of 6.1 over a 10-year period. It ranked 180 in terms of air quality.

This is alarming for a country where agriculture is a significant sector of the economy and millions of livelihoods depend on forestry.
