PESHAWAR: Students from the Department of Sociology at Islamia College Peshawar, led by Professor Dr. Rais Gul, visited the provincial office of Alkhidmat Foundation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for a study tour focused on understanding social welfare practices.
The delegation was warmly received by Khalid Waqas, President Alkhidmat Foundation KP, who briefed the students on the foundation’s ongoing humanitarian efforts, development projects, and its role in promoting community welfare across the province.
The students were introduced to Alkhidmat’s key programs, including disaster management, healthcare services, education, orphan care, clean water initiatives, the digital skills program Bano Qabil, and Islamic microfinance services.
Professor Rais Gul praised Alkhidmat’s wide-reaching impact, stating, “The foundation is playing a vital role in driving social and economic development and fostering positive change in our society.” He also emphasized the importance of increasing awareness and youth involvement in welfare activities.
The visit concluded with a commitment to continued collaboration between academia and the nonprofit sector to strengthen Pakistan’s social fabric.
Bio. Alkhidmat has acted efficiently and provided help to victims of disasters whether that was the recent 2022 Pakistan flood or the 2005 earthquake in Kashmir.
