Transform Lives with Clean Water: Support Alkhidmat’s Wash Program

Have you ever imagined waking up to a day without water? Or worse, having water that’s not safe to drink? This is the harsh reality for many in Pakistan. The scarcity of clean, drinkable water not only poses health risks but also affects the overall well-being of communities. To address this urgent issue, Alkhidmat Foundation’s ‘Wash Program’ is committed to providing sustainable water solutions to those in need.

Alkhidmat has launched various projects under the umbrella of ‘Wash Program’ including,

Community Hand Pumps: These pumps provide accessible water sources for daily needs at a cost of PKR 120,000. About 10,293 community hand pumps have been installed till now.

Submersible Water Pumps:These pumps are priced at PKR 220,000 and ensure a consistent supply of water from underground water sources. Two thousand three hundred twenty-six submersible water pumps have been installed across Pakistan so far.

Solar Submersible Pumps: These pumps powered by solar systems provide a sustainable water solution at a cost of PKR 800,000. Throughout Pakistan, 427 solar submersible pumps have been installed.

Water Wells: These wells tap into deeper water reserves in the areas with surface water scarcity for PKR 220,000. Since the launch of this program, Alkhidmat has installed 2776 water wells in various areas of Pakistan.

Gravity Flow Water Schemes: This water scheme captures water from natural water reservoirs such as waterfalls and channels it to community water storage tanks at a cost of PKR 500,000. Currently, 172 gravity water flow systems are provided in various regions of Pakistan.

Water Filtration Plants: with advanced water purification technology, Alkhidmat has installed 232 water filtration plants, each costing PKR 2,500,000, in various regions of Pakistan to provide safe drinking water.

Alkhidmat Wash Program Success Stories

Among the numerous success stories of Alkhidmat’s Wash Program, one particularly inspiring tale comes from the residents of Tharparkar. Women in this area used to go to far-flung areas, carrying water pitchers on their heads. Now, Alkhidmat has installed water pumps that facilitate the use of pure drinking water by hundreds of people. An elderly resident, Muhammad Omar, from Bakua, Tharparkar, shares that the water scarcity problem in their area persisted throughout his life. People had to walk for miles to fetch water. However, Alkhidmat’s installation of a community hand pump has brought a new lease of life to the community.

Abdul Razaq, from a rural area of Jhelum Valley, Pakistan, states that there are more than 100 houses in their village, and people used to walk for two hours to bring water. Alkhidmat surveyed the area and installed a gravity flow water system, providing fresh water to a population of about 400 people.
