PESHAWAR: Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan handed over five trucks of relief goods to Afghan authorities at Torkham Border for the victims of the recent devastating earthquake in Kunar province Afghanistan. 
The relief consignment included 200 tents, 500 tarpaulins, 500 food packages, 500 winter packages, and 3,000 cartons of clean drinking water. The aid was formally handed over by President Alkhidmat Foundation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Khalid Waqas and President Alkhidmat Peshawar Abdul Haseeb along with Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber district Shah Faisal Afridi to Afghan representative Maulvi Syed Muhammad Fayez Qadri. 
It is worth mentioning that just two days earlier, the earthquake in Kunar claimed over 2,200 lives and injured more than 3,000 people. Following the disaster, Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan President Prof. Dr. Hafeezur Rehman, on the instructions of Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, contacted the Afghan Consul General in Peshawar Hafiz Mohibullah and offered emergency assistance. 
Speaking on the occasion, Khalid Waqas reaffirmed that Pakistan and Afghanistan share centuries-old ties, and Pakistan has always stood by its Afghan brothers in times of hardship. He pledged that Alkhidmat Foundation would continue to support the earthquake victims with all possible&nbsp;resources.

Alkhidmat Sends Earthquake Aid to Afghanistan

A delegation from the World Food Program&rsquo;s (WFP) visited the Alkhidmat Foundation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial headquarter.

The delegation was led by Mohammed Alwan, Head of Security for WFP Pakistan, who was accompanied senior official WFP Major (R) Zafar Iqbal.

On the occasion they met Khalid Waqas, President Alkhidmat Foundation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and discussed projects of mutual interest.

During the visit, the delegation toured several departments of the foundation. Muhammad Adnan, Senior Manager RMD, briefed the delegation on the ongoing projects and the organization&rsquo;s humanitarian outreach. Dr. Shakeel Ahmed, Regional Manager, along with other senior officials of Alkhidmat, also attended the meeting.

Alwan praised Alkhidmat Foundation&rsquo;s role in providing relief and welfare services in the region. He expressed appreciation for the foundation&rsquo;s dedication to supporting vulnerable communities and assured that the World Food Program would explore opportunities for future collaboration on humanitarian initiatives.

WFP Delegation Visits AKF KP Office

PESHAWAR &ndash; Alkhidmat Foundation has announced the launch of a Rs 500 million rehabilitation and reconstruction phase for flood-affected families after already providing relief worth more than Rs 300 million.

Addressing a press conference at Peshawar Press Club, Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa North Ameer Inayatullah Khan, JI KP Central Ameer Abdul Wasi, Alkhidmat KP Central and South President Khalid Waqas, Alkhidmat KP North President Fazal Mahmood, and Alkhidmat Peshawar President Arbab Abdul Haseeb said the devastating cloudburst floods of August 15 wreaked havoc across nine districts of KP, causing heavy loss of life and property. Hundreds of lives were lost, over 800 houses were destroyed, 3,000 houses partially damaged, while crops, orchards, and markets were washed away.

Since the first day, more than 10,000 volunteers of Alkhidmat have been engaged in rescue and relief operations. So far, 5,600 food packages, 1,000 cooked meals (deigs), and food for over 80,000 people have been distributed. Relief also included 106,000 water bottles, 600 tents, 2,000 tarpaulins, 800 kitchen sets, 3,000 mosquito nets, 2,000 winter packages, and cleaning of 468 houses and mosques.

Through 20 mobile health units, 195 free medical camps were organized, while 31 ambulances provided free transport to victims.

In the new Rs 500 million phase, Alkhidmat will provide food packages and kitchen sets to 5,000 more families, build 100 houses and 60 mosques and madrassas, and supply construction materials to families for rebuilding their homes. In addition, 500 laborers will receive interest-free loans, medical centers will be upgraded, all orphan children will be sponsored, and 5,000 students will be given books, stationery, and school bags.

The speakers stressed that the scale of the disaster is too large for one organization alone to handle and appealed to philanthropists and affluent individuals to join hands with Alkhidmat in the mission of rehabilitation and reconstruction.

Besides immediate risks like injury and infectious diseases, flooding significantly increases the risk of death from heart disease, breathing problems, and mental health issues. Accidental deaths included those from falls, fractures, open wounds and drowning; while non-accidental deaths involved heart, stomach and lung problems, infections and mental disorders.

Massive floods especially in the monsoon season create numerous health risks including drowning, injuries, and hypothermia during the event. In the aftermath, waterborne diseases (like cholera, dysentery and typhoid) and vector-borne diseases (such as endemic disease like malaria and dengue) can spread due to contaminated water and increased mosquito breeding grounds. Communicable skin diseases spread faster than they can be treated. Seepage and water logging in previously dry construction provided a proliferative breeding ground for black mold, which thrives exponentially in damp, humid crevices and can cause serious respiratory illnesses like pneumonia. Pakistan Floods: A Factfile

In the wake of devastating mid-August flash floods sparked by monsoon downpours and cloudbursts, Alkhidmat Foundation has emerged as a key player in relief efforts across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). It, in a swift and wide-ranging response, commenced it&rsquo;s rescue and relief operations Buner, Swat, Shangla, Bajaur, Battagram, Swabi, Charsadda, Mansehra , Tank and other flood hit districts.

On August 15, 2025, a cloudburst unleashed strong torrents rushing through mountain villages, pushing the death toll in KP to 358, including 287&nbsp;men, 41 women and 30 children. In flood hit areas a number of 181 people, including women and children, also got injured said a report of August 19 by KP Provincial Disaster Management Authority, while over 150 persons are still missing. 
Meanwhile, experts warn that fresh monsoon spells could extend this emergency into early September.

In a quick response to this devastating event, Alkhidmat Foundation dispatched its major relief convoy to flood-hit zones, carrying ambulances, mobile health units, food trucks, and essential supplies such as tarpaulins, tents, mosquito nets.

Meanwhile, Alkhidmat volunteers and emergency teams have been tirelessly Recovering bodies and arranging for dignified funerals and coffins, evacuating survivors, including women, children, and the elderly, from submerged and remote areas, distributing cooked meals, clean drinking water, tents, tarpaulins, and essential life supplies.

Aware of the escalating risk posed by swollen rivers Alkhidmat has issued a &ldquo;red alert&rdquo; throughout KP. Its teams are actively monitoring water levels, stationed in high-risk zones to facilitate immediate response if flooding worsens.
