The deadliest and cataclysmic earthquake of Turkiye and Syria

ALLAH SWT says in surah Tagahabun: No calamity befalls except by Allah, s Will and whoever has faith in Allah, He Will rightly guide their hearts through adversity and Allah Has perfect knowledge of all things.64:11

The earthquake of 7.8 and subsequently 7.6 magnitude Jolted the south-eastern part of Turkiye and areas along side Syrian border in both counties most damaging Gaziantep, Hatay and kaharamanmaras provinces. The casualties yet reported are more than 8000, with the number increasing. More than35thousand injuries are reported.400 buildings are collapsed and 1300 are damaged in Syria and more than 2000 buildings are affected in Türkiye.

WHO has warned that about 23 million of the population may be affected out of which 1.4 million are children. It us a huge number. The calamity is more disastrous than we ever think. It needs. even bigger human relief efforts. The freezing temperatures as low as -15 Celsius and heavy snowfall has further worsened the conditions. The rescue and relief required is beyond expectations. Rescue workers from around the world are reaching to extend their help.60000 workers including more 3200 workers from 65 countries are there cooperate in relief and rescue activities. Apart from government of Pakistan, Alkhidmat Organisation has also sent rescue workers and their vice president Mr Abdus Shakoor himself is leading the team and coordinating with sister organisations there to speed up the rescue and relief work.

The calamity is huge and demands proportionate response. It us the need of the hour extend empathy through skills or donations, on urgent basis. Specially our brethren in Syria who are already war-ridden are in dire need of shelters, blankets, ready to eat food and medical facilities. It is time to return the love and affection shown by our Turkiye brethren in our difficult times. It is time to show Syrians that we feel for them.
