Rehabilitation & Alkhidmat Volunteers
The mammoth and unrelenting rains have sent extreme floods sweeping across Pakistan leaving vast swatches of country under water. More than 1,000 lives lost and millions displaced in this humanitarian crisis of epic proportion.
In the immediate aftermath, owing it to its vision of serving the humanity, Alkidmat foundation launched a nationwide campaign. A platform was provided to facilitate volunteers to make sure their giving makes a greater impact.
Though the rains have stopped, the destruction is nowhere near over. With millions made destitute, this massive task of rehabilitation is undertaken by thousands of volunteers across the country.
Alkidmaat foundation in collaboration with 50,720 volunteers are engaged every waking hour in the struggle to salvage and reconstruct. With more than one-third of country underwater, there are increased risks of waterborne diseases and disrupted access to healthcare. Tackling the new set of worrying health challenges, 466 medical camps have been established targeting an estimated 111,850 patients.
As the country grapples with its worst natural calamity, volunteers in their individual capacities banded together to help the affected people. More than 50,000 people are being taken care of with cooked food two times a day. 23 tent villages have been established to provide shelter. A dedicated digital team is working around the clock to raise awareness and amplify the call for help.
Muhammad Abdus Shakoor, the president of Alkidmat Foundation charity wing, said ‘helping the distress people is in the DNA of people.’ Yes, it has been devastating, the havocs caused, the precious lives lost, the dreams shattered. It will take a long time to recover.
The only source of respite in these turmoil times have been the incredible efforts of common people, who rallied together, in the true spirit of brotherhood, as a beacon of hope. The Alkidmat Foundation’s pledge to serve the humanity, became guiding principle for thousands of individuals. Be a part of impact. Donate & Volunteer.
