Natural Calamities Turns Boons into Burden
We have seen many natural disasters from the beginning of the world and all-natural disasters are very harmful to humanity and many people died due to these natural calamities. These natural disasters do not come by looking at color, race, creed or religion but these disasters can happen anywhere at any time and can cause havoc.
Many tribes of the world and many nations whose names and marks have been erased from the world and today when their remains are found it shows how much the world has changed. We all have heard about the Indus Valley Civilizations in the northwestern region of South Asia lasting from 3300BCE to 1300BCE and it was the most widespread civilization and many other civilizations in any other part of world we have found their remains but if we thought that how these great civilizations and nations disappeared from world and world map. When the answer was searched only one thing was seen and this is natural calamities that wiped them out of the world.
Almost the whole world is affected by these natural disasters but the damage is only to small and developing countries. In developed countries, a plan is prepared to deal with them and a certain amount is kept and spent to deal with these disasters. But if we talk about developing countries, due to lack of resources, they either need loans or donations to run the country's system then how can such countries find money to deal with these disasters or set aside or make a plan? One of the developing countries which are facing natural disasters is Pakistan. Pakistan is present in South Asia and has an area of 796,096 square kilometers. The area of Pakistan is divided into three landforms i.e Mountain, Plains and Plateaus. Mountains and Plateaus covers about 60% of Pakistan's Area and Plains cover about 40% .The economy of Pakistan is based on Agriculture. Agriculture contributes roughly about one-fifth grade of GDP. More than 65-70% of the population depends on Agriculture for its livelihood. Mountains which are a source of fresh water are very important for our economy. When water which is a boon for Pakistan turns into a burden then how will this country survive?
Yes, I am talking about floods i.e. An overflow of water. The devastation caused by the flood due to the current monsoon in Pakistan is still going on. Sindh, Balochistan and South Punjab have been severely affected while KPK and Gilgit Baltistan have also suffered massive losses. According to the data of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) 33million population in 81 Districts have been affected. 1396Deaths, 12,728 people are injured, 750,223 livestock lost and 1,743,345 houses damaged (partially or fully).
If we keep this loss aside and look at the causes of these floods, we will find that Pakistan and its people are suffering because of the seeds planted by many developed countries. People whose daily life was powered by agriculture are now unable to find dry land to bury their loved ones. One and the big cause of floods is climate change. Greenhouse gas emissions blanket the earth and trap the heat of the sun. This led to Global Warming and Climate Change. You will be surprised to see that Pakistan is emitting the gases that cause the greenhouse effect is less than 1%. In the list of most emitting countries from the top twelve countries, 8 countries are from G-8 countries which are the most developed countries of the world. China is in the second position and America is in the first position because of these countries small and developing countries like Pakistan suffered a lot.
The whole world should have to make a plan to deal with these natural disasters together, otherwise, the time is not far when these disasters will wreak havoc in developed countries instead of developing countries. Huge steps should be taken to protect the environment and the world.
Bio. When there was nothing on the ground serving the flood victims, people witnessed Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan with its dedicated volunteers and proved to be the boat of hope in the sea of despair!
