Emergency Flood Appeal

Situation:

Flooded streets, submerged cars, destroyed infrastructure, choked drains, fuming water everywhere as rain causes havoc in Karachi. Three days of monsoon rain have killed at least 90 people and damaged scores of houses across Sindh province, while another spell of heavy rain lashed the port city of Karachi. Streets and homes were flooded with sewage water and people are standing on their rooftops to save their lives as water has intruded into their houses, sinking everything in the house from furniture to utensils in their kitchen.

Streams are overloaded with flood water causing life threat to the general public as more than 9 incidents of drowning have so far been reported from Karachi. Casualties from electric shocks, buildings shattering, drowning and suffocating under debris are occurring with every passing moment.

Our Response:

Reaching to protect the people in need is our long bearing tradition. As soon as the rain started creating problems for the people of Sindh, Alkhidmat Foundation started its rescue and relief activities. Population under flood was rescued by our boats while people in narrow streets were rescued by our volunteers personally.

Our rescue teams are working tirelessly to conduct rescue operations for those in need in Sindh and Karachi city. Tents have been distributed among the needy people as their houses are flooded and they can’t stay in those houses. Rescued people were also sent to the nearest hospitals for emergency medical treatment while cooked food is also distributed among the flood-affected people on a regular basis.
